Time is of the essence when you’re faced with an emergency or natural disaster like wildfires.

But our first responders — the everyday heroes we rely on to protect us in those situations — still aren’t supported by the technology they need to make every second count.

Disasters and emergencies often require first responders to work across local and regional jurisdictions to protect our communities. This kind of mutual aid has become more and more vital as we fight to combat increasingly volatile and widespread wildfires, which places an increasing demand on our first responders’ communication and coordination efforts.

And yet there has been no effective communications framework that allows first responders to access, exchange, and interact with vital information across jurisdictions, hindering aid and coordination efforts.

With the advent of large-scale wildfires that can rapidly outflank the resources of any one jurisdiction, there is an operational need to connect and orchestrate the actions of teams of first responders across different jurisdictions focused on a common mission-driven need (wildfire, earthquake, flood).

Like the rapid mass adoption of the Internet in the 1990’s to interconnect disparate computer nodes residing across the globe, the FireCast Platform is positioned to rapidly interconnect distributed first responder communities who largely operate as if their influence and span of control remained isolated to their own jurisdictional island.

Instead of building more islands, iCode is building bridges that interconnect these legacy islands using a suit of technologies that facilitate the secure discovery and ad-hoc collaboration among collocated teams of responders regardless of which professional discipline (e.g., firefighters, EMT and law enforcement) each responder is trained in.

The FireCast platform consists of:

Because a myriad of networks can be involved, the FireCast Platform leverages secure networking protocols and digitally signs the underlying content to identify the originator and verify that the content was not altered in-transit or at-rest (in storage). So end users can rest assured that the content they access is from a known source.
