Firefighter HUD
It all started when…
iCode’s founder and Fire Captain Kirk Mckinzie (of the Cosumnes Fire Department) had a lengthy side-meeting at the 2017 Public Safety Communications Research (PSCR) Stakeholder Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Since that time we have had the opportunity to have several candid conversations with Capt “Kirk”, who continues as a respected “Thought Leader” in the areas of public safety and the champion of technological advances that can benefit us all. Our Mixed Reality eXplorer (MRX) was designed to address the need for low-cost/highly immersive Virtual and Augmented Reality options (commonly referred to as Mixed Reality) for firefighters and potentially members of the public who want to participate - and teach, sound escape practices to their friends and family. The concepts presented here are sample engineering artifacts developed within iCode to explore concepts and gain feedback for improvements.
