iCode's eXtensible Mission Display (XMD) is developed in response to emerging operational needs of various Department of Navy (DoN) components including the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), and the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), who are responsible for acquiring and maintaining capabilities for the US Navy's war-fighting professionals.  Portrayed in the background figure above, the iOS-based XMD App provides a core geo-spatial capabilities for Mission Planning and Mission Execution followed by a collection of optional extensions.  In this case the extensions facilitate finger-tip based access to an F-14B Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS)-based Emergency Procedures document, and a Brake Heat Dissipation Calculation decision aid.  The great thing about downloadable extensions is that end-users can selectively choose which ones they want to include on their iPad, personalizing the XMD to match their particular mission area.  Development on the XMD's core Mission Planning and Mission Execution capabilities is already underway, along with a handful of XMD extensions.
